Louis Vuitton Monogram World Tour

Louis Vuitton

On his many travels, Gaston-Louis Vuitton used to collect hotel and airline stickers, and always took a fascination to the labels on luggages and trunks he saw, as he felt it was telling of the owner and the adventures they had been on. It was this spirit of wanderlust that was the main inspiration behind the new Louis Vuitton Monogram World Tour Collection.

Creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere has transposed this tradition of travel stickers on the classic Louis Vuitton Monogram icons, from its classic city bag Speedy to the LV55 watch and the Pégase suitcase. The stickers feature dynamic cosmopolitan cities like Tokyo, Paris and Milan, or paintings from the Hyper Realistic Movement. This collection is a fun, playful take on the classic Monogram series and a great way to pay homage to the design house’s long-standing association with travel. Head up to our gallery to check out the new collection up close!

You’ve already seen the first few pieces from this collection, now see the rest from Louis Vuitton’s Monogram World Tour collection. Yes, that’s the official name of this festive range of bags and SLGs, inspired by founder Gaston Louis Vuitton’s love of hotel and airline stickers which he collected whilst on his own travels. You’ll be familiar with the bags and SLGs too, all icons in their own right that Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière has chosen for this animated and fun line that’s just perfect for Christmas.

Now comes the next most important question. How much? Well, I’ve got all the prices here for you, so all you really need to do is to decide if the recipient has been naughty, or nice. And if anyone’s been wondering, I’ve been really nice all year. So there.

First up (from left to right), we’ve got the Monogram World Tour Zippy Wallet (SGD1230), then the Monogram World Tour Pochette Felicie(SGD1430) that actually comes with 2 extra SLGs on the inside that can be used together or separate from the bag, one a zip pouch, another a flat pocket card case that comes with 8 credit card slots. Last but not least, there’s the Monogram World Tour Sarah Wallet (SGD1100), which happens to be a favourite amongst many, by the way.

Next we’ve got the ‘big guns’, starting with the Monogram World Tour Speedy30 Bandouliere (SGD2330), the Monogram World Tour Neverfull MM(SGD2110) which incidentally comes with a black trim (very Monogram Macassar, if you ask me), with the Monogram World Tour Alma BB(SGD2010) rounding up the montage.

Finally, another look at some of the icons given the Monogram World Tourtreatment, because everything looks better on pink, right? Besides the 6 I’ve just featured, other bags that you’ll find ‘stickered’ include theKeepall50 Bandouliere (SGD3100) with vachetta or black trim, the Toiletry Pouch26 (SGD645), the Nano Speedy (SGD1510), as well as other accessories like scarves and key rings to complete the look.

Louis Vuitton has once again featured funky stickers on their iconic handbags for their Fall/Winter 2016 Collection. The World Tour Stickers presents a variety of patches like Louis Vuitton logo, cars, and flamingos. These stickers can be seen on Louis Vuitton’s famous handbags. These includes City Streamer in Veau Satin leather, Speedy, Petite Malle and Twist in Epi Leather, all in black color. It will also be available in Monogram Canvas bags including Speedy, Alma, Neverfull, Petite Malle, Palm Springs Mini Backpack as well as Travel bags and Small Leather Goods.

HERMES KELLY FLAG WALLETS

Hermes

Hermes-Kelly-Flag-Wallet

Everything-limited is certainly worth chasing, like the Hermes Kelly Flag Wallet. We were told that only 12 pieces were available in each store.

The Kelly Wallet is one of Hermes’s Classic accessories and needs no introduction – the beautiful Kelly Lock in the center is what we’re all craving for. The Flag Wallet edition is in bi-color blue and black or in bi-color red and burgundy.

The purpose of this post is to give you more details about this beauty. First, it’s covered in Epsom Calfskin. The interior is the same as the original Kelly Wallet, it features 12 credit card slots, 2 pockets for bills, central zip purse for change with Kelly Lock pull-tab. This bag is great as an evening clutch or a long wallet.

Measuring 4.5’ x 7.7’ inches, priced at $3650 USD via Hermes boutique.

Hermes-Kelly-Flag-Wallet-2

Never carried, this Hermès Kelly Long Flag Wallet is absolutely pristine with the protective plastic intact on the hardware.  The limited edition style is very collectible in a combination of Flamingo and Coral Epsom leather.  Known for its ease of use, functionality, and understated chic panache, the Kelly Long is both practical and beautiful.

Textured and durable Flamingo Epsom leather has a Coral center block and interior.  Accented with sophisticated Palladium twist lock belted closure.  Gusseted sides allow for easy management.  The interior is outfitted with twelve card slots, a central zippered coin compartment with padlock pull and multiple currency slots.     Made in France.  Blind stamped Q within a square.   Protective felt and Hermès box included.

Women’s Hermès Purses and Wallets

There’s something empowering behind owning a luxury made item. Whether it’s a flowing gown or a wallet that remains hidden in a bag, that feeling is present in every single item. Hermes has been the premier couture house in France ever since it was founded in 1837. The brand’s attention to detail, intrinsic designs and creative vision are executed flawlessly in every piece. When looking for wallet, Hermes is your trusted brand in elegance and style that will last a lifetime. From flawless materials to stunning hardware nothing quite compares to what Hermes brings forth with each one of their unique designs.

Hermes Kelly Wallet

I am always on the hunt for the perfect wallet because my wallet is the most important item in my bag (sometimes more than the bag itself)! I actually spend more time choosing my wallets than my handbags because there are so many conditions to be met, but today, the hunt for THE wallet is finally over. The latest style from Hermes, the Kelly Long Money Holder or Ligne Kelly (I prefer to call it the Kelly Wallet/Clutch) is the answer to my dreams! It is 7 inches wide (18cm, half the length of a 35cm birkin) and may also be used as a clutch, nothing like a two for one to get me excited! (More after the jump!)

I went through my list of requirements: chic style (it’s Hermes, it’s a Kelly, need I say more?), a color that will endure daily abuse (etoupe is the perfect shade of taupe gray that won’t show dirt or stains), adequate credit card/ID slots(12- I only use two credit cards but seem to have a dozen of other ‘cards’- ID cards for my son and I, insurance card, prescription card, membership cards, VIP cards to clubs, Gym card, Yoga card- the list is endless!), space for cash (two slots, you can fit a passport in one of them!), foreign currency/checks/receipts (there are two pockets behind the credit card slots which will fit everything from Chinese RMB to the Euro), and functional coin pocket (with an adorable miniature Hermes lock as the zipper pull which actually cinched the deal for me, who else but me would buy a wallet purely because the zipper pull is so cute!?!?).

Made of ultra durable and lightweight Chevre Mysore (Goatskin), the Kelly Ligne is the best Hermes wallet I have ever owned. My Hermes Dogon and Bearn wallets lack sufficient card slots and they do not close properly when the coin pockets are full. The Kelly clasp allows me to stuff as much as I want without worrying about closing it! Plus I love being able to open it and look down to see everything I have in there at one glance. The best part, though, is its double function as a clutch (I put my cell in there and it fits!) and you don’t have to worry about a wallet for your credit cards or cash because it’s already built in! There is a wait list for the Kelly Ligne wallet so you must call your Hermes SA immediately. It is available in multiple colors but I absolutely love the etoupe, it is so chic and sophisticated. At Hermes Boutiques worldwide.

Each year, Hermes changes the leather and exotic skins you may order from depending on availability. Here are the skins available this year if you are one of the lucky ones to be on a permanent list.

EXOTICS

Porosus crocodile from Australia– Most commonly found on Northern shores of Australia, New Guinea and Indonesia. Hermes does not glaze the Porosus croc skins so they will never peel. This skin is polished with an agate stone and the skin has to lay flat under the machine so once it is made into a bag, you will never be able to polish it again! I’ve ordered mine in Graphite (it turns gray, black or brown depending on the light) and am anxiously waiting it’s arrival. The Rouge 95 is also amazing and gorgeous!

Niloticus crocodile from Africa– the ever popular matte croc is rich and sumptuous. (All crocs have to be at least 10 years old to meet Hermes standards)

Mississippi Alligator– the best ‘gator skin in the world is from the US.

Lizard from Africa– Available in size 25cm or smaller due to the small size of lizards.

Ostrich from South Africa – Hermes uses the most incredible ostrich skins with flat quills. My White ostrich Kelly is from the ’60s, older than me, and is still flawless.

LEATHERS

Veau Swift– Veau means calf in French, the word after it is usually the way the calf skin has been treated and/or stamped. This is a soft and sturdy calf skin.

Veau Togo – One of the most popular skins from female calf skin, tumbled and printed. I was told it is being phased out, what a shame as I just love Togo!

Veau Box – A stiff calf skin that wears to a beautiful patina but scratches easily.

Veau Epsom – Calf skin that has a smoother grain and is very stiff, I like this for the white Hermes bags.

Troika Calf hair– A delicate and gorgeous skin but it will wear around the edges. Not the most durable.

Vache Liege– Vache means cow in French- you’ll see that cow skin is also thicker than calf skin. Liege is the way it is treated and stamped.

Vachette Crispee Fjord – Cow skin in a heavy and looser texture.

Chevre Mysore– Goatskin is becoming increasingly difficult to find at Hermes quality so chances are you won’t be able to order one this year so if you see one ready made at the boutique, grab it!

Taurillon Clemence – The softest and most durable of skins made of Bull leather. The grain is looser than the Veau skins.

Buffle– Buffalo skin is as tough as you can get. This is usually used for luggage.

This is it for orders made in 2008. I told myself I would not order any more leather Hermes bags and would focus on exotics but couldn’t resist ordering the Taurillon Clemence in Olive. The color is so urban and cool! If I have time later, I will post another entry on the colors available in each skin.

A serious Hermes collector does not merely buy birkins. There are so many delectable items to be had and treasured. I bought a photo album and journal in Blue Jean Veau togo when my son was born, I’ve been keeping the journal and album with all of his “firsts” and will give both to him when he has his own child. My own Hermes bag collection consists of Birkins, Kelly bags, mini Kelly pochettes, the Lindy, several wallets, and a couple of vintage bags in a mix of exotics and leathers. I also collect Hermes enamel bangles, belts and scarves. (Forgot to mention JPG’s Hermes ready-to-wear are funky classics that I adore, I especially love the silk tops and crocodile platform shoes). Yes, I am sick and my obsession runs deep but Hermes is the only luxury brand that does not lose its value (even Chanel does not hold its value once it’s left the boutique), in fact Hermes bags increase in value with time so at least I am not squandering away my child’s inheritance! Actually, I view my Hermes collection as heirlooms to be passed down to my future daughter or granddaughters.

Chanel Golden Class Double CC Bag and Studded Classic Flap Bag

Other Brands

Chanel-CC-Golden-Flap-Bag-2

CHANEL has designed many handbags with the CC signature on the front, but not all of them are gorgeous and chic (in our opinion). But handbags that look similar to the Classic Flap Bags are usually to-die-for. For example, this Chanel Golden Double CC Flap Bag, can you turn your back on it?

This bag is a true statement-maker, it stands out even more than the Chanel Classic Flap Bag. The golden CC embellishment is not only shining bright, but it’s the first thing that any human eye will point to whenever they see you carrying it on your shoulder. It’s all about flaunting without effort and it is still a perfect everyday wear at the same time, for the weekends or the evenings.
The Chanel Golden Double CC Bag is quilted and comes with an interwoven chain link; it’s so luxurious that you will want to add it to your exclusive bag collection. On the other hand, if you already got the Classic Flap Bag, this version has an entirely different appearance.

To be honest, we were not thrilled with many seasonal bags, but the designs of the flap bags remain gorgeous. And of course, the boy bags were overwhelming hot and we were literally drooling – All of them please!Chanel-Studded-Fla-Bag-Grey
Studs can break or make a bag, depending on how it’s decorated on the exterior. It’s not a common thing that Chanel embellished their famous ‘Classic Flap Bag’ with little studs. Truly a work of art – small round shaped studs that look a bit like pearls are gently put on the quilts, which makes the bag more shiny and appealing.
And when its time for the night-out with the girls, the city lights will reflect on the little studs, creating an impact on everyone walking pass you.

Gucci Ranked as Top Brand Among Social Media Influencers

Fashion

Gucci is riding higher than ever on the earth of fashion, and it is not only thanks to its new acclaimed creative director. Ranked by R3 Worldwide and Bomoda as the top brand in the study of social media influencers, Gucci is mastering the art of bonding its refined roots with the world’s leading sources of inspirations, letting luxury meet social media in the best way possible.

Gucci Ranked as Top Brand Among Social Media Influencers

Bomoda, whose “team of data scientists, strategists, and market experts, helps companies delve into China and other emerging markets”, and R3 Worldwide, “a global consulting firm focused on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of marketers and their agencies”, joined forces to analyze 25 different luxury brands, studying their effectiveness and likeability among influencers and celebrity bloggers on platforms such as WeChat and Weibo.

Bomoda described the study as “a representative pool of those we have observed making the most significant efforts in China in the past two quarters”, with its report analyzing the “mentions, likes, reads, sentiment, purchase intent and total engagement — to form an overall picture of the strongest brands and the strongest opinion leaders.”

As for the selected labels, Bomoda and R3 Worldwide specifically looked for luxury labels that make ample usage of ‘key opinion leaders’ (KOLs) in China, such as TV celebrities and renowned socialites. The companies included in the researches non-Chinese KOLs on both WeChat and Weibo too, with Kendall Jenner being, of course, at the top of the case study, as her androgynous, urban-chic style is especially “favored by Chinese female Millennials to a greater degree than any current Western personality. This wave aligned her closely on Weibo and WeChat with ‘now’ trends such as slip dresses, crop tops, activewear and slippers.”

The report also meticulously analyzes each one of the luxury Maisons’ efficiency online, applying its criteria to more in-depth areas and case studies that are even more specific. While Gucci is at the core of both Weibo and WeChat’s rankings, the report’s authors mentioned Bulgari, DiorLancôme and Estée Lauder as Weibo’s top-4 associated brands, and Tiffany, Bulgari and Esteé Lauder as WeChat’s. Such results will likely help all of these Maisons build stronger engagements and partnerships with the Eastern World, just in time for the fashion-hungry Chinese market to triple by 2020.

As for the overall list, Bomoda and R3 Worldwide awarded Dior with a silver medal, andLouis Vuitton with a bronze one. Given the fact that Givenchy and Chanel were respectively ranked at number four and five, we can fairly state France is somewhat monopolizing the Chinese market.

Although such results are astonishing indeed, one more thing is worth mentioning.

As stated by the report’s authors, many KOLs are “indeed inefficient, but this is more a matter of misaligned and mismanaged expectations than a lack of relevance. For every one celebrity who commands large sums to promote a brand’s products but fails to generate the expected results, there is an unheralded and unpaid fashion blogger generating the necessary engagement and positive sentiment to affect sales.”

The report thus simultaneously reminds us – customers/social media influencers, as well asthem – the luxury labels, that the key to success is neither immediate nor easy. Buzzing around about a certain topic/luxury piece isn’t enough, and although numbers are indeed relevant, (positive) content and an immediate response will always be more valuable.

THE GUCCIGHOST T-SHIRT THAT HAS ALYSSA HIDING HER CREDIT CARD

Fashion

Gucci t-shirt, $590, available at Net-A-Porter.

Gucci t-shirt

I attended my very first Gucci show in Milan back in February, and while I'll admit my seat was located in what most would consider to be the nosebleed section, that didn't make it any less magical. This is thanks in part to the pieces designed in collaboration with GucciGhost — a.k.a. Brooklyn-based artist Trevor Andrew — that featured bold, graffiti-inspired renditions of the classic logo and brought a modern, streetwise element to the otherwise eccentric, vintage-inspired collection.

The GucciGhost tags adorned everything from a bright red fur coat and a pleated midi skirt to oversized bomber jackets and handbags, and while those are statement pieces that I'd seriously consider opening a new line of credit for, this T-shirt that just arrived on Net-A-Porter is slightly less prohibitive. It's simple, white and boxy, but is printed with an adorable branded skull on the front, and tagged with "Life Is Gucci" across the back. How's that for a motto to live by?

At $590, this would put a significant dent in my fall shopping budget, but it's something I would wear to shreds — with jeans, with a high-waisted skirt and heels, layered underneath button-downs and a leather jacket, etc. Plus, each time I'd put it on, I'd essentially be spreading those positive "Life Is Gucci" vibes to anyone I encountered, which has to be worth something, right?
